Hello everybody, and welcome to 9 Lives Adventures! My name is Karim Ladki and I thank you for taking interest in our journey.
I will never forget the day I told my friend Matt Thola I was going to Africa. He was genuinely happy for me, but you could tell he was eager to propose that he come. Instead, he replied “I wish I could go”.
Matt is just like me. Adventurous, confident and infected with what people call “the travel bug”. The more we learn about each other, the more we learn about ourselves (if that makes any sense). We are the same age, share the same humor and bear the same titanium cages and scars. The only real physical difference between us is his wheelchair.
Matt and I have always talked about traveling together, but the thought of pushing his chair through villages with dirt roads into the unknown did not look too inviting for either of us at the time. It wasn’t until my return that I realized that, sure it would have been hard to commune in some areas of Southern Africa but realistically it was entirely possible!
It didn’t take too long for the gears to start cranking as we set out on our personal journey to create a care-free path for fellow travelers able and (dis)abled, to go out in the world and try to do something different with our time on this earth, and most importantly to enjoy every one of our 9 lives we get!
Our journey will take us from country to country documenting every stroke of the wheel from high altitudes to deep waters. We are here to open up the world to every able person who has a strong mentality and has a will to fight for more in life. Together we will explore a path of adventure, excitement, and stimulation best fit for different individuals and different disabilities. In time, we hope to have 9 destinations in each country of choice with something to pump your adrenaline in each destination, resembling your 9 lives!
We are in contact with several adventure tour companies, accommodations and sponsorships that are eager to participate in our progress as we find the landmarks and create itineraries that will allow you to do things you never thought you could.
We are alive. We are individual. We are able.
